We went for an excursion along the Interactive Learning Trail in Terminal 3 today, 1st Feb 2012.
This picture was taken while walking
We went to Changi Airport on the 1st of February 2012. Even before we boarded the bus leaving for T3, we were already buzzing with excitement as our former English teacher, Ms Toh Xiao Xin, was coming along with us to T3! :)
Station 1- Singapore Aviation Gallery:
At the Singapore Aviation Gallery, we learnt many things about Changi Airport that we did not know. The Changi Airport is five times larger than the old Paya Lebar Airport and six hundred aircrafts take off daily from the airport. The food served on the planes do not get spoilt easily as the food is prepared 6 hours in advance and is rapidly chilled to 4 degrees to prevent bacteria from growing on it.
The entrance- with some random person appearing.*LOL*
Station 2- Fiber Glass Propeller Sculpture:
At this amazing sculpture, we learnt that Christian Moeller is the artist who designed it. It is named "Daisy" as it resembles a flower in bloom.
A robotic arm randomly moves a cargo ship propeller made of fiber glass in the air. Video cameras are embedded in the base of the sculpture enabling "Daisy" to turn and face its viewers.
The "Daisy" :)
-Changi Wonders of the World
This is a miniature display of some of the Wonders of the World. There is the Sydney Opera House in Australia was designed by John Utzon, a Danish man and serves as a performing arts centre. This landmark is regarded as one of the greatest architectural masterpieces of the 20th century
There is also the Eiffel Tower, which is found in Paris, France. It was built in 1889 and is now the most prominent symbol in France. It is the tallest structure in the country and is visible from many spots around Paris.
If you look closely, you an find a structure of the Taj Mahal, which is found in Agra,India. it is a monument of love, and is made of white marble. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in meory of his beloved wife.the grandeur and rich beauty of the Taj Mahal makes it one of the most interesting attractions in the world.
Our form teacher, Mrs Jacinta Lee, is obsessed with Angry Birds and when she saw the Angry Bird themed structure, she agreed to take a picture with it :)There is also the Great Pyramid of Giza which is found in Eygpt, also known as the Pyramid of Khufu. It is the oldest and largest pyramid and is the oldest of the seven wonders of the world.
-The Green Merlion
The Merlion is a mythical creature with a head of a lion and the body of a fish. It is a symbol of Singapore, formerly known as Temasek. This particular Merlion is made up of greenery and this is what makes it special.
-Flower Sculpture
This sculpture depicts a dragon. This is the animal featured in the Chinese calendar this year.
-Opening of the Airport
The Changi International Airport( Terminal 3) was opened by Mr Lee Hsien Loong, now the Prime Minister of Singapore, on 25 July 2008.
Station 3- Taxi Stand
We went to the taxi stand next to the slide and found out about the price for the taxi from the airport to the city!
-Slide at T3
We have to be at least 130cm tall to ride this 12m long slide. We should not go head first into the slide and not extend our hands and feet at any time in the slide.
-Recycling Bins
The recycling bins are shaped like bottles, cans, and newspapers. The are part of a creative design initiated by Changi Airport.
Station 4- Art Wood Block Printing
We created an art wood block print! It was so interesting that even our teachers went to try it out!
Final 'Station' of the day... MACDONALD'S!!!
Pictures speak better than words.
